Can I Combine Breast Reduction with Another Procedure?
Some women choose to have other procedures in combination with their breast reduction. Common procedures to combine with a breast reduction include liposuction, and tummy tuck. Combination procedures, when performed, take full advantage of the recovery period and provide a more comprehensive makeover.– Written onJune 27, 2019 Dr. Hadaegh, I want to thank you for the excellent job you did on my reduction. Going into it all and going to a very negative surgeon at first, I couldn’t be happier I was sent to you! When people ask me if I’m happy, I say, ‘this is the best decision, I have ever made in my whole life!” I still can’t believe I was in very minimal pain! But thank you so much, I really can’t thank you enough! I have already recommended you to four people and will continue! Thanks again!
What Is A Breast Reduction?
A reduction mammaplasty, or breast reduction, is used to reduce and reshape the breasts while repositioning the nipple in a more desirable location. By removing breast fat, tissue, and excess skin, Dr. Hadaegh can improve the overall appearance of your breasts while maintaining appropriate proportions and a feminine look. The Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Hadaegh will ask about your medical history and any other procedures you’ve had. He will also need to know which medications you take. If you are currently using NSAIDs like ibuprofen or aspirin, it’s important to stop taking them before your surgery, as they can increase the risk of bleeding. Additionally, Dr. Hadaegh will examine your breasts and determine a specific treatment plan that meets your goals and expectations. If you have any questions about your breast reduction, like which technique he will use or how long the surgery will take, be sure to ask at this time. What Happens During Breast Reduction Surgery?
Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia at Beverly Hospital or North Shore Medical Center, Salem. Dr. Hadaegh will make the necessary incisions on each breast following one of these two patterns:- Lollipop – An incision is created within the perimeter of the areola, along with a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease.
- Keyhole/Anchor – This pattern uses the same technique as the lollipop, but also adds an incision horizontally along the breast crease.
Recovery and Results
After your procedure, you may experience soreness, swelling, and/or bruising. Dr. Hadaegh might prescribe medication to help ease your discomfort for the first few days. Typically, you can return to office work and some of your normal daily activities seven to ten days after your breast reduction. Generally, swelling should start to dissipate between four to six weeks after surgery. It is important to refrain from any strenuous activities, such as heavy lifting, intense exercise, and more, for at least four weeks or until Dr. Hadaegh gives you the okay to do so. Typically, you will be able to see full results from your breast reduction a few months after your procedure.Breast Reduction Surgery and Insurance
