Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) in North Shore
At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery North Shore, an eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is one of the most common facial surgical procedures. Since the skin around the eyes is very thin, it’s one of the first areas of the face to show visible signs of aging. The loss of elasticity can create wrinkles and puffiness that can make you appear tired. Dr. Anoush Hadaegh performs the eyelid lift for North Shore, MA, patients.
An eyelid lift, also called an eye lift or undereye bag surgery, removes the excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids for a rejuvenated and refreshed look. In cases where upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery must both be performed, the upper blepharoplasty is typically performed first.

“I am so pleased with the results of my eyelid and brow surgery”
“I am so pleased with the results of my eyelid and brow surgery. I hadn’t even realized how limited my viewing field had become. The doctor and staff were friendly, concerned, and always prompt. I wish I had known about this possibility before this year.”
Am I a good candidate for an eyelid lift?
An eyelid lift is recommended for patients with heavy upper lids or puffy bags under their eyes. Patients who want to correct the constantly tired or angry appearance of their eyes are excellent candidates for this procedure.
Some patients may have trouble with their visual field because of an excessively sagging eyelid, and an eyelid lift can correct this issue. Patients with an impaired visual field often qualify to have the procedure covered by insurance after completing an appropriate screening.
Ideal candidates for this procedure are generally healthy and have no post-surgery healing issues. Candidates must not have serious eye problems and must have realistic goals.
Your Eyelid Lift Consultation
During your eyelid lift consultation, Dr. Hadaegh will answer any of your questions, discuss your goals and concerns, and will present all of your treatment options. Your eligibility for an eyelid lift will be based on your goals, overall health, medical history, and a thorough physical examination. This examination will also ensure that Dr. Hadaegh can best customize your treatment plan. A comprehensive review of your medical history will be done to ensure a clear understanding of any potential contraindications or health considerations related to the procedure
How to Prepare for YOUR EYELID LIFT Surgery
To prepare for your eyelid lift surgery, you need to have a consultation with Dr. Hadaegh. During your consultation, he will ask you about your medical history and any other surgeries or procedures you may have had. It is important to tell him about any medications you take as well. This includes NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, and any other blood-thinning medications, as these can increase the risk of bleeding. In the days leading up to your surgery, Dr. Hadaegh may ask you to stop consuming certain medications, along with tobacco and alcohol. Follow his advice carefully to ensure your safety and set yourself up for a smooth recovery.
Before your surgery, you should arrange for family, a friend, or another trusted individual to transport you to and from the hospital.
The Procedure
Once the administered anesthesia has taken effect, incisions will be made according to the surgical plan. For the upper eyelids, excess skin and muscle tissue will be removed, and the remaining tissues will be tightened. For the lower eyelids, excess skin will be addressed, and excess bulging fat will be repositioned or removed as needed.
