Arm Lift Procedure in North Shore

Patients that have undergone significant weight loss, even though they are healthier and may have achieved their weight goals, find that they may have loose saggy unwanted skin. Unfortunately, no amount of diet and exercise will resolve this problem. Procedures such as arm lifts remove this unwanted skin and fat while tightening the deep structures to create a sculpted and desirable contour. Some choose to have other procedures done in combination with an arm lift, such as a Brazilian buttock lift or a breast augmentation. It is common for arm lift patients to also get liposuction or an abdominoplasty procedure as well. These combination procedures can be performed together safely while taking full advantage of the recovery period.

Am I a good candidate?

Patients who want to get rid of the loose skin on their arms and enhance their body aesthetic are excellent candidates for these procedures. Healthy patients with no pre-existing conditions that could affect post-surgery healing are good candidates. Arm Lift procedures are perfect for patients who have lost significant body weight and are left with saggy excess skin and pockets of excess stubborn fat. Candidates must be at a stable body weight without any plans to gain or lose weight in the near future.

Your Arm Lift Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Hadaegh will answer any of your questions, discuss your goals and concerns, and will present all of your treatment options. Your eligibility for an arm lift will be based on your goals, overall health, medical history, and a thorough physical examination. This examination will also ensure that Dr. Hadaegh can best customize your treatment plan. A comprehensive review of the candidate’s medical history will be done to ensure a clear understanding of any potential contraindications or health considerations related to the arm lift procedure

How to Prepare for Arm Lift Surgery

Preparing for arm lift surgery involves consulting with Dr. Hadaegh. During your arm lift consultation with Dr. Hadaegh, he will ask you about your medical history and any other surgeries or procedures you may have had. It is important to tell him about any medications you take as well. This includes NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, and any other blood-thinning medications, as these can increase the risk of bleeding.  In the days leading up to your surgery, Dr. Hadaegh may ask you to stop consuming certain medications, along with tobacco and alcohol. Follow his advice carefully to ensure your safety and set yourself up for a smooth recovery.

Before your surgery, you should arrange for family, a friend, or another trusted individual to transport you to and from the hospital.

The Procedure

During your arm lift procedure, Dr. Hadaegh will begin by administering anesthesia to help you relax. Dr. Hadaegh will then create an incision either on the inner arm or toward the back, with the length varying based on the extent of correction needed. Through this opening, he will remove excess skin and may perform liposuction to eliminate unwanted fat deposits. The supportive tissues are then tightened using internal sutures, and finally, the incision is carefully closed and dressed with sterile bandages to protect against infection as you begin the healing process.
