Am I A Good Candidate?
A breast revision is appropriate for patients who want to improve the appearance of their breasts. Healthy patients with realistic goals are ideal candidates. Dr. Hadaegh will determine if you are a good candidate during your consultation. This will be based on your goals, overall health, medical history, and a thorough physical examination. Good candidates are typically those who are not pregnant or nursing and have no active infections or serious health conditions. You may not be a good candidate if you have active breast cancer or unrealistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure.
Your Breast Revision Consultation
To determine which breast characteristics are a good match for your body, you’ll first need to come in for a consultation with Dr. Hadaegh. The consultation is a perfect format for you to get answers to all of your questions so that you can make informed choices. Besides evaluating your medical history and examining your breasts, he will also take your aesthetic goals into account.
How to Prepare for Cosmetic Breast Revision Surgery
To prepare for your breast revision surgery, you need to have a consultation with Dr. Hadaegh. During your consultation, he will ask you about your medical history and any other surgeries or procedures you may have had. It is important to tell him about any medications you take as well. This includes NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, and any other blood-thinning medications, as these can increase the risk of bleeding. In the days leading up to your breast implant surgery, Dr. Hadaegh may ask you to stop consuming certain medications, along with tobacco and alcohol. Follow his advice carefully to ensure your safety and set yourself up for a smooth recovery.
Before your breast implantation, you should arrange for family, a friend, or another trusted individual to transport you to and from the hospital.
The Procedure
Breast revision surgery can last from one to four hours. General anesthesia is administered to the patient, and the surgeon begins the procedure once it takes effect. The incisions from the first breast augmentation will be used to perform the revision surgery. After the planned corrections have been made, the incisions will be sealed with medical sutures. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of North Shore, we offer many breast implant types and styles, including MENTOR, to best fit your goals. We use the MENTOR sizing system during your consultation with Dr. Hadaegh, which allows you to see what your desired results will look like. Some women choose to have other procedures in combination with their breast revision, such as liposuction, abdominoplasty, or breast lift. Combination treatments, when performed, take full advantage of the recovery period and provide a more comprehensive makeover. At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of North Shore, your safety and satisfaction are always our primary focus.
