The ProcedureOn the day of the breast reconstruction surgery, anesthesia will be administered to prepare the patient. Incisions will then be made. The surgeon will use a specific flap technique and/or insert breast implants. Tissue expansion may be necessary to ensure sufficient room for implants. The nipple and areola will also be reconstructed according to the preferred technique of the surgeon. The incisions will be closed to complete the surgery.
The Breast Reconstruction Recovery ProcessAfter the breast reconstruction surgery, bandages or gauze will be placed on the incisions. If they prefer, the patient can hire a healthcare professional to help with the recovery process. The patient must follow the instructions and prescriptions provided by the surgeon.
