A mini tummy tuck is a less invasive variation of the traditional tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedure. It offers a shorter recovery period and a smaller incision. Unlike a full tummy tuck, the mini abdominoplasty does not affect the position of the belly button. It also creates a much smaller post-surgical mark. It is not used to tighten sagging muscles, only excess skin and fat.

How to Prepare For Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery

Before your surgery, you should arrange for a family member, friend, or other trusted individual to transport you to and from the hospital.
Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure
Mini tummy tuck surgery can last one to three hours, depending on the surgical plan. It will typically start with the administration of general anesthesia, though a combination of local anesthesia with sedation may also be an option.
A short horizontal incision will be made in the area between the belly button and the pubic hairline. Liposuction is used to remove excess fat, and redundant skin will be trimmed away. As mentioned, the belly button will not be involved in the surgery.
After the lower abdominal skin and fat are removed, the remaining skin is tightened. The incision is then sutured and bandaged to complete the procedure.

You can go home on the day of surgery, but be prepared for minor pain and discomfort during recovery. Physical activities will be limited for a few weeks, so be sure to follow Dr. Hadaegh’s specific instructions.
