Male Facial Procedures North Shore MA

Cosmetic facial procedures can mean many things. Often times it consists of; facelift, neck lift, eyelid lifts, brow lifts, even Botox, and facial fillers like Juvederm or Voluma. Sometimes liposuction or even fat grafting can be coupled with cosmetic facial procedures.

Botox has widely been marketed towards women since its rise to popularity, however it is not for women only. The term “Bro-tox” is now being used to demonstrate to men that Botox isn’t just for the girls! The truth is, Botox can be for anyone. It is a special protein which temporarily blocks neuromuscular signals responsible for creating lines and wrinkles. Basically relaxing the muscle that creates the fine lines and wrinkles that tend to “age” our faces. Botox is FDA approved for the treatment of facial lines, including “Crow’s Feet”. The effects of Botox may last anywhere from 3-4 months, depending on how your body breaks it down. Botox can also help with excess sweating!

Did you know that not all facial lines are the same? That’s why we need different “tools” to take care of them. Botox deals with dynamic lines created by muscle movement. Facial fillers like Juvederm and Voluma deal with lines created by facial volume loss.

Juvederm is an FDA approved synthetic form of hyaluronic acid, naturally found in our bodies. This facial filler is used for the facial lines around the lip, cheek, chin, and deep forehead lines. It can also be used to rejuvenate the lips. Juvederm can last from 9-18 months, depending on the site of injection. Voluma is another FDA approved facial filler that is used to restore or increase volume to your cheeks. This product can last 18 months to 2 years.

While Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, even laser treatments like Fraxel, can remedy lines, wrinkles and even facial volume loss, they have limitations. A face lift can give more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. The goal is to achieve a refreshed natural look, which can be accomplished by lifting the cheeks and jowls, smoothing out the wrinkles and contouring the neck with minimal scarring.
