The breast lift procedure, also known as mastopexy, is designed for women who have noticed that after weight loss, pregnancy, or simply with the passing of time, their breasts have changed. These changes may include sagging, loss of volume, and increased nipple size. These changes often have a negative impact on a woman’s self-esteem.
At Aesthetic Plastic Surgery North Shore, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anoush Hadaegh has helped numerous women restore their confidence in the appearance of their breasts by providing them with amazing results from their breast lift.

What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift/mastopexy restores the youthful appearance of sagging breasts. While it does not increase the breast size, a breast lift does reshape and reposition the breast by tightening the existing tissue. In addition, a breast lift will reposition the nipple in a more aesthetically pleasing location; reclaiming some of what gravity and/or pregnancy has altered.
– Written onJanuary 31, 2019 Just recently had a full anchor lift and implants with Dr.Hadaegh. I couldn’t be happier with my results they are beyond what I expected. I finally have full perky breast. Everything has gone great so far and his staff is amazing. The doctor has called and checked on me a few times as well as sandra from his office. All around great experience!!! I highly recommend seeing Dr. Hadaegh any type of breast procedures. 🙂
Breast Augmentation with Lift (Augmentation Mastopexy)
A breast lift may be coupled with a Breast Augmentation or fat grafting if greater volume is a part of your goal. Some women choose to have other procedures in combination with their breast lift. Common procedures to combine with a breast lift include breast augmentation, liposuction, and abdominoplasty.
The cosmetic procedures combined with the patient’s breast lift will be based on their goals. The most suitable combination of breast cosmetic procedures will be chosen during a consultation.
Breast Lift Surgery Preparation
During your consultation with Dr. Hadaegh, he will ask you about your medical history and any other surgeries or procedures you may have had. It is important to tell him about any medications you take as well. This includes NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, and any other blood-thinning medications, as these can increase the risk of bleeding.
Dr. Hadaegh will examine your breasts during your consultation and will come up with the right treatment plan for your specific needs. He will answer any questions or concerns you may have about the procedure.
In the days leading up to your breast lift surgery, Dr. Hadaegh may ask you to stop consuming certain medications, along with tobacco and alcohol. Follow his advice carefully to ensure your safety and set yourself up for a smooth recovery.
Before your breast lift, you should arrange for family, a friend, or another trusted individual to transport you to and from the hospital.
The Breast Lift Procedure
A breast lift surgery can be performed in a variety of ways, but the procedure generally follows this process:
- You will be given general anesthesia for your comfort. You will be fully unconscious during the entire breast lift procedure.
- Once the anesthesia has taken full effect, Dr. Hadaegh will make the necessary incisions to address your cosmetic concerns according to your customized breast lift treatment plan.
- Dr. Hadaegh will lift and reshape the breasts to achieve your treatment goals.
- He will position the areolas to best complement your new breast shape.
- Incisions are closed with sutures, completing the procedure.
Mastopexy Recovery
After surgery, bandages will be placed over the incisions made during your procedure. You may experience minor side effects such as soreness and swelling. You may also experience temporary bruising after your breast lift. Dr. Hadaegh may prescribe medication to help you minimize discomfort as you heal.
It is important to adhere to Dr. Hadaegh’s instructions throughout your recovery in order to ensure proper healing and minimize the chance of complications. He will make personalized recommendations regarding the use of a surgical bra or other supportive device during your recovery. He will also advise you on how much time you need to take off work and when you can safely resume your normal activities.
Typically, patients can return to work in one to two weeks. Patients should limit exercise for two to six weeks after their procedure.
Patients will need to attend a follow-up appointment so that Dr. Hadaegh can ensure quality results and check on the healing process.
If you have any questions about the recovery process, do not hesitate to ask Dr. Hadaegh.
You will be able to see results right away; however, the final results from your breast lift will not be apparent for several months.
